Not One....but TWO!!!

I have been a very lucky blogger this last week! I won not one but two giveaways! WOW!!

Well, both packages arrived in todays mail!

The first win was from Myra over at G8dame's Place. I won one of her little boxes! Myra stained and waxed the box and included a lovely piece of fabric for finishing!

Thank you so much Myra! I will treasure this box!

My second win was from Pam at Confessions of a Southern Stitcher! Pam's giveaway was a needlebook and scissors fob which she had stitched, but she surpised me with so much more as you can see from this picture!

Can you believe all the goodies! Look at Pam's beautiful stitching! And the little buttons she sent are so cute! The scissors are just lovely!

Pam included two pieces of linen, some beautiful silk threads and "A Sheltering Tree" design. And don't you just love that lady bug cookie! It's too cute to eat!

Thank you Pam for all of my goodies! I love it all and really appreciate your generosity!

On the stitching front, I am sorry to say that not much stitching has been going on this week. I did make a start on "Ann Grant" but only managed to put in 25 stitches or so, so no picture update. This is my first time working with silk thread and I have to say I love it. The thread is so soft and beautiful and just glides through the fabric.

Hopefully more stitching will happen over this weekend! I really want to finish my LHN "Virtue Sampler" and get more stitching in on "Ann Grant". I will certainly give it my best to accomplish these goals!

Blessings to all and happy stitching!

Guess What Arrived in Today's Mail

From reading the blogs it sounds like everyone had a wonderful Easter!

My Easter was very nice. My two sons and their wives and my new granddaughter were here for Easter dinner along with a couple of friends! The weather was beautiful, although a little on the hot side and the Easter Worship Service was especially meaningful.

Now onto the excitement for the day! The mail-lady left a goodie in my mailbox today from Wasatch Needlecraft that I had ordered a few weeks ago! Ann Grant came today along with fabric and threads and Karen even included a complimentary mesh project bag. (Thank you Karen!) I am just so excited to get started!!

I have far too many WIP but I simply can't wait to start Ann! What's one more project? Right?! I know, I have no self-control! I can't help it. I will just have to spend more time stitching. Not a bad trade-off, don't you think!?!

Well, that's all the news for today. Hope you will check back at the end of the week for pictures of my progress!

Enjoy your week and happy stitching!

5K Finish!!!

We had a very successful 5K run on Saturday morning! The rain came but the runners and walkers came out anyway. Spirits were high! The rain seemed appropriate for the cause.

Race check-in and registration.

Runners.

And Walkers.

Over $4000 was raised for 'Water for Life'! It was a blessed day!

Busy Week!

Just a quick post to say head on over to Cross Stitch and Cupcakes for a wonderful blogaversary giveaway! And to say that very little stitching is going on right now. Why you ask? Just keep reading!

I am working on boxed lunches for this weekends Garden Week Tour for our county. My ladies group at church is hosting the lunch for the tour, so I have been planning, shopping and will be preparing food for Saturday's tour. I am the food planner/organizer for the group. Luckily we only have reservations for 50 people but will make extras for those that walk in without a reservation. Lucky for me that there are several ladies willing to
help with the cooking, cleanup and handing out on Saturday.

Plus my family organized a 5K Walk/Run to raise funds for "Water for Life" on Saturday morning. Yes, that's on Saturday too! "Water for Life" was created by Sports Outreach Institute to help the people of Gulu, Uganda. After the war in Uganda, thousands of people were displaced in refugee camps living in very primative conditions. Sports Outreach works with the people to educate them on hygiene and health, teach them how to farm to provide food for themselves, provides micro loans for women to start businesses and digs water wells for villages to have clean drinking water. My family is helping out to raise money for the wells. We organized the 5K in memory of my youngest daughter who was killed an automobile accident last summer. While she was at college she participated in well building fundraisers for Gulu so we carry on with the work in her memory. We have over 100 people registered so far for the 5K and are expecting more to register on Saturday. It will be a good day and many people will be blessed with the gift of clean drinking water!

So, you can see it is very busy at my house!

I wish you all have a great rest of the week and weekend and happy stitching!

Progress and A New Start!

Thanks to everyone that commented about my sweet new granddaughter! She is doing great, nursing well and teaching her parents that they really don't need all that much sleep! It is so much fun to watch the new parents as they learn how to take care of baby's needs! They make great parents!

On the stitching front, I have managed to put in a few stitches.

LHN 'Virtue Sampler' is coming along nicely. This is where I am after last week's stitching. I just love that red house! I am hoping to finish this one by the end of the month. There really isn't that much left to stitch, a couple of flowers, the hill, alphabet and bottom border. It should work up quickly.

Next up is a new start! A birth sampler 'Gabrielle Rose' by La-D-Da. This one also should stitch up quickly. I promised myself that I will definitely get it done before she is ready for college! (Know what I mean? Does anyone else have any of those kind of WIPs hidden away somewhere?)

I love the colors in this one. It was so hard to pick out a sampler pattern. I love the really cute baby sampler patterns out there but I wanted something that she would be proud to display even when she is older. This one fit the bill nicely.

On the crocheting front, I have been asked to make another baby blanket! This one will be done in dark lavender color baby yarn. I haven't started it yet but will soon. That baby is due the end of May so I have a little time. There must be something in the water around here with all of these little babies due this Spring!

Well I will close with a sweet picture of my precious little granddaughter taken on homecoming day!

Isn't she an angel?! I am in love!

Thanks for visiting and Happy Stitching!

She Has Arrived!!!

Wow! It has been such a busy couple of days! My very first grandchild was born on Friday, April 1 at 10:14 p.m. after a very long day of labor for her poor mom and dad. Here is a beautiful picture of her and her mama right after birth.

She is beautiful! I am so proud of my son, he is being such a good dad taking such good care of his new baby girl and her mom!

Needless to say not any stitching has happened in the last two days. LOL I have been just a little preoccupied!

Thanks for all of the kind comments on the baby blanket in my last post. I really appreciated your compliments!
