A New Finish!!

I have a new finish to share but not cross stitch...I am staying with my son and his wife and new baby helping out for a few days. In between spoiling my new granddaughter and helping where I can I managed to finish a crocheted baby blanket for a friend's new baby.

This blanket pattern came from a Leisure Arts booklet of patterns for baby blankets book 4. I just love the patterns in this book! The yarn is Bernet Baby Yarn in lavendar.

I will leave you with a picture of my new granddaughter wrapped in the little blanket I made for her!

Blessings to you and Happy Stitching!

Meet My Newest Granddaughter!!!

She has arrived! She was even a few days early which did make her mama happy!!

Isn't she beautiful!! She came into this world after a 25 hour labor for her poor mama but she was well worth the struggle and hard work. And to top it off, I was able to see her being born which was awesome!

Thank you to my sweet daughter-in-law for allowing me to be present for the birth! It was an amazing experience I will always cherish!

Here is my son holding his new daughter for the first time. Can you tell he's in love?

And here is baby in her mama's arms for the first time...

This is going to be one very loved child!

Emotional Time.....

I don't have any pictures to share in this post. I have been stitching along on Nature's Beauty and it is coming along nicely despite the frogging I keep having to do. I guess my mind is distracted.

In an earlier post I shared with you about the 5K run we held in memory of my youngest daughter back in April. Well, this past weekend we went to her college graduation to receive her diploma awarded to her posthumously. Needless to say it was a bittersweet and difficult time for us. But even within our pain we rejoiced to see her friends graduate from college and start moving on to start their adult lives. We are so grateful that her friends have let us become close to them and love them and rejoice with them! It is a precious gift that they have given us!

Well, this evening at 5:00 pm EDST a group of 12 from her college leave for Gulu, Uganda for two weeks. They go to work with a village there and to watch a water well be dug in that village in memory of my daughter. 'Anna's Well' will be dug in the coming days and will be dedicated on May 24.

I tell you all this not to gain your sympathy but to ask you all for your prayers and thoughts for this group as they travel and work with the people of this village in Gulu. Travel to this part of the world is not without risk as you know so please ask God to keep them safe and bless them in their work.

If you would like to know more about the charity that we worked with to raise funds for this well please go to Sports Outreach Institute. There is a blog for this trip which you can follow to learn more about their day to day travels.

We have been so blessed as a family by the love and support of family and friends over this last year. To know that with memorial donations given at my daughters death and with fundraising projects supported by her friends and her college that enough money was raised to dig three wells in Uganda is such an example of how God uses all things for good is wonderous to see!

May God's blessings be given to you and yours!

Some Progress...!

Well I am not sure what happened to my Wednesday update so I will post my finish on 'Virtue Sampler' again!

Sorry for the poor quality of the photo, I had to use the flash since it was late when I took the picture. This is the first finish for my Crazy 15 Challenge. It is from Little House Needleworks, 'Virtue Sampler', stitched on 28 count linen with DMC threads. I am really pleased with how it turned out!

Currently I am working on LHN 'Natures Beauty'. I found a counting error in part of what I had stitched in January, so I had to frog about half of what was stitched. Some progress was made last night and today but I will not post a picture today...it is such a cloudy day here and I know the photo would not do the piece justice.

My hubby and I are going to visit my oldest daughter this weekend! It is suppose to be stormy and rainy the entire weekend not the best for traveling but I am so looking forward to seeing my daughter and her husband that I don't care about the weather!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Blessings to you!

Finally a Finish!

I can't believe how time slips away from me! Has it really been a week and a half since I last posted? (shakes her head in amazement)

I have been busy stitching and cleaning and planting and working and...well, you get the idea. Really I wanted to have a finish to share before I came back here and that did not happen until late last night. So here it is!

Little House Needleworks Virture Sampler, 28 Count Linen, DMC Threads

Can you believe that this is only my first finish for the Crazy 15 Challenge!?! Some of you are on your 8th, 9th and 10th finishes and I am only done with one! Yikes!! Good thing I included some small projects in my 15 starts!

I picked up LHN 'Nature's Beauty' to work on next. I put in a few stitches last night and discovered a counting error which resulted in frogging about half of what I had stitched back in January. I will take a picture of my progress for my next post.

I want to thank everyone that commented on my last posting! It is fun to read all of your comments! Also, thanks to all those who have signed up to follow my blog! I feel honored that you are interested in my little part of the world!

That's all for today. I promise to be back soon with an update!

Blessings to all!
